How is the course externally examined?

The course comprises two papers which will be sat at the end of Year 10. Each paper carries equal weighting of 50% and is allocated 1 hour and 45 minutes.

 

Paper 1 – Islam and Ethics 50% weighting 1hour 45minutes

Marriage and Family

Living the Muslim Life

Matters of Life and Death

 

Paper 2 – Christianity Peace and Conflict 50% weighting 1hour 45minutes

Christian Beliefs

Crime and Punishment

Living the Christian Life

Peace and Conflict

 

The course is graded with GCSE grades 1 to 9.

 

How is the course internally assessed?

All students in Year 9 will complete four assessments which will assess their knowledge and understanding of the four components of the Christianity paper. Each assessment will comprise of four past exam questions which will be marked by class teachers.

 

All students in Year 10 will sit two mock examinations; one before the December holiday, and one in the new Year. The first mock examination will assess the entire content of Paper 2 Christianity and all students will complete the full 1h 45minute paper. The second mock examination will assess two of the four components of Paper 1 Islam and students will sit the paper in 55 minutes.
