How is the course externally examined?

Students follow a linear course over 2 years with 2 written papers, both units are worth 50%.

Unit 1 (50%)

  • Research Methods
  • Development
  • Memory
  • Perception

Unit 2 (50%)

  • Social Influence
  • Brain and Neuroscience
  • Psychological Problems
  • Language, thought and communication

The course is graded with GCSE grades 1 to 9.

 

How is the course internally assessed?

Assessments reflect how students are assessed in their terminal exam, this includes a variety of question styles and lengths.

 

In year 1:

Term 1: Memory and Research Methods

Term 2: Perception and Research Methods

Term 3: Research Methods, Perception, Development and Memory

 

In year 2:

Term 1: Perception, Brain and Neuroscience, Development, and Social Influence.

Term 2: Brain and Neuroscience, Research Methods, Social Influence and Language, Thought and Communication

Term 3: Psychological Problems
