Post 16 students do not have a formal uniform, as we want give students the chance to express themselves and enjoy a greater degree of freedom. However, students are given a list of acceptable clothing items as well as ones that are not permitted. This is because our Post 16 students are role models for lower school students and school is a professional environment. We have to prepare students for their eventual next steps where there is likely to be a basic expectation. We consult with our stake holders regularly in order to adapt this policy as necessary:
Unsuitable Dress:
Ripped jeans
Leggings worn as trousers
Offensive or obscene slogans/messages
Outdoor coats or jackets in the classroom
Hats/Headwear (unless for religious / cultural / medical reasons)
Underwear on show

Play-suits
Flip-flops / sliders / high heels
Starpless dresses or tops
Short skirts / dresses / shorts (AHS reserves the right to determine what a suitable length is)
Tattoos should not be on display
Excessive jewellery or piercings
Low cut tops / cropped tops
