R181: Applying the Principles of Training: Fitness and How It Affects Skill Performance (Coursework) – Completed September Year 11, submitted to exam board Christmas Year 11 (80 marks)
Content: This unit focuses on the principles of training and how they can be applied to improve fitness and performance in sports. Students will:
Understand different training methods and their effects
Learn how to design training programs
Explore the relationship between fitness components and skill performance

R180: Reducing the Risk of Sports Injuries and Dealing with Common Medical Conditions (Externally Assessed) - 1 hour 15-minute written paper in Summer Exams Year 11 (48 marks)
Content: Students learn about common sports injuries, methods to reduce their risk, and how to manage medical conditions related to physical activity. Topics include:
Types of injuries and their causes
Prevention strategies
Treatment and rehabilitation processes
Recognising and responding to medical emergencies

Practical performances
Students practical grades usually increase throughout the course as more sports are covered and external evidence is filmed.
All students at Allerton are assessed in climbing (filmed), athletics, handball, football, netball.
If students attend clubs in other sports on the specification, these will be assessed also. If an external sport, these will be filmed out of school and videos will be sent to the exam board (golf, swimming, skiing, boxing).
2x visits to Leeds climbing wall will take place to film evidence to send to the exam board.
Internal afterschool moderation sessions are mandatory to grade students, some of these sessions will take place with local schools.
Analysis and evaluation of performance (AEP)
In year 10, students will be completing their coursework in lessons. They will be invited to study support to make up missed hours. At the end of year 10 coursework will be moderated internally and grades will be finalised.
