Introduction

  • Understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of digital media
  • Develop learning and practical skills that can be applied to real-life contexts and work situations
  • Design, plan, create, and review digital media products which are fit for purpose meeting both client and target audience requirements.

How is the course examined?

 

R093 - Creative iMedia in the media industry (externally examined)

  • This unit looks at how the media industry operates. It explores job roles, design principles of media products, demographics and how products are aimed at these. Students analyse the codes and conventions of media products.

R094 - Visual identity and digital graphics

  • Students will learn how to develop visual identities for clients. They will learn to apply the concepts of graphic design to create digital graphics which incorporate your visual identity to engage a target audience.

R097 - Interactive digital media

  • Students will learn to design and create interactive digital media products for chosen platforms. They will learn to select, edit, and repurpose multimedia content and create the structure and interactive elements necessary for an effective user experience.

How is the course graded?

Vocational qualifications are graded with pass, merit or distinction either at Level 1 or 2. The numbers in brackets below are the GCSE equivalents e.g. L2P is a Level 2 Pass and is the equivalent to a GCSE grade 4.

 

Grades available:

L2D* (8.5), L2D (7), L2M (5.5), L2P (4), L1D (3), L1M (2), L1P (1.25)

Equipment

Students will need to ensure that they have basic equipment to be able to complete some of the required tasks.

Homework

Students will be given weekly homework tasks that are related to either their NEA or exam preparation.
