Sociology is 100% exam based. Students sit 3 equally weighted exam papers.
Paper 1: Education plus Education and methods.
Paper 2: Optional Topics (currently Families and Households, The Media)
Paper 3: Crime and Deviance plus Theory and Methods
All papers are two hours long and carry 80 marks
How is the course internally assessed?
Y12 Sociology:
Students complete an initial assessment in HT1a based on their understanding of the foundational topics and concepts
Students are assessed in HT1b December mocks using assessments created based on what they have learnt so far
Students them complete endof-unit assessments using mock exam papers before completing end-of-year mock exams papers
Y13 Sociology:
Students are assessed in HT1b December mocks using mock exam papers based on content they have learn in Y12 plus new topics they have learnt in Y13 so far
Students are then assessed in March on endof-unit topics based on mock exam papers
