A Level Law is 100% exam based, with three equally weighted exam papers, each 2 hours long and each worth one third of the marks. The units are:

Within these units, you will:
Develop competence in using legal skills
Demonstrate your ability to analyse a scenario by identifying the key facts from which legal issues arise
Analyse, when formulating a legal argument, legislation by applying rules and principles
Construct clear, concise and logical legal arguments which are substantiated by legal authority, using appropriate legal terminology
Construct a persuasive argument including in instances where there are no clear legal precedents or when there are conflicting precedents
Analyse and critically evaluate legal issues by identifying different perspectives, supporting your identification of the strongest viewpoint and countering alternative viewpoints
How is the course internally assessed?
Y12 Law
Students complete an initial assessment in HT1a based on their understanding of the foundational topics and concepts
Students are assessed in HT1b December mocks using assessments created based on what they have learnt so far
Students them complete endof-unit assessments using mock exam papers before completing end-of-year mock exams papers
Y13 Law:
Students are assessed in HT1b December mocks using mock exam papers based on content they have learn in Y12 plus new topics they have learnt in Y13 so far
Students are then assessed in March on endof-unit topics based on mock exam papers
